“Automatic” thoughts occur without an obvious, “conscious” Recognition of their occurrence Automotive thoughts often reflect what is happening around you and how that makes you feel. If you have lots of automatic negative thoughts this can make you feel more depressed. How we think and what we believe come from what we have learned as a child, from parents, friends and society. We can train ourselves to unlearn this thought pattern and to think positively. It takes some time and practice but will help build our resilience to negative thoughts.
